Ghost Recon Wildlands: Performance Analysis

Graphics Settings

The video above walks you through all the game's settings, of which there is an incredible amount.

It's also nice to see a preview to the right of these settings, which immediately shows the effect of changing the respective setting's value.

Some highlights worth mentioning are:
  • Resolution Scaling: Lets you adjust the game's internal rendering resolution; 1.0 means "native". When you select 2.0, for example, the game will render at twice the resolution internally to then downscale for monitor output.
  • V-Sync can be turned off; an FPS cap is optional (up to 144 FPS). There is no hidden FPS cap.
  • Extended Field of View: The FOV can be doubled from the default setting, which is reasonable. Note that aiming cameras are fixed and not affected by this.
  • Anti-Aliasing: This is a shader-based AA method, not MSAA.
  • God Rays: This user-favorite can be set to "enhanced", which will make the rays look extremely nice, using volumetric rendering.
  • Turf effects: This is a new technology within NVIDIA Gameworks which enables high-performance vegetation rendering with a limited performance impact. The self-shadowed grass not only looks richly detailed, but can also interact with geometry or wind effects. The system uses a continuous level of detail, which means it will seamlessly render at higher quality the closer you get, without any texture pop-ins or similar artifacts.
