The Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro is a well built, practical board with great features. When it comes to looks, the Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro may not turn heads like some more flashy designs, but the neutral gray and black theme of the B550M AORUS Pro has an appeal of its own and will be an easy fit in almost any build.
Out of the box, performance was great for the Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro. Memory overclocking was pretty good as well, as I reached 4000 MHz CL16 stable with my Trident Z Neo kit. Tightening the memory timings was partially successful, with the Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro able to boot into Windows at 3600 MHz CL14 but failing memory stress tests. For CPU overclocking, I was able to achieve 4.44 GHz on all cores, which matches the other recent B550 boards I have tested. VRM thermals were a weak point, with the B550M AORUS Pro reaching above 90°C. Additionally, the Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro showed some throttling at the later stages of the VRM torture test. Gigabyte does get credit here, however, as the throttling was mild and the board stayed at 4.2 GHz most of the time. Considering the targeted price point, this is a passable result.
The Gigabyte B550M AORUS Pro is a great board for those looking for an affordable AM4 motherboard with a practical feature set. While I would not recommend it for those looking to overclock a 125 W TDP Ryzen CPU, it is a great choice to pair with the more reasonable 65 W TDP parts.
