HyperX Cloud Alpha Review

Build Quality and Comfort

The inner side of the headband and the ear cushions are made out of a soft and extremely comfortable memory foam that is covered in pleather. The ear cushions fit the ears snugly, and for the first week or so of use, the clamping force struck me as slightly too high. After about three hours of wearing the Cloud Alpha without a break, I could feel some slight discomfort on my ears. Thankfully, the break-in period helped loosen them up a bit, and they then became extremely comfortable.

To cater to differently sized heads, the ear cups can be moved up and down along the metal frame.

The motion is accompanied by satisfying clicks to tell you that their height has been changed. There are markings on the inner side of the aluminum frame, which should help you adjust both ear cups equally.

The wires that loop through the headband and connect the audio drivers are braided and well protected. This is yet another detail HyperX uses to flaunt the high build quality of the Cloud Alpha.

Overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha is quite obviously built to impress. Its overall look and feel goes above and beyond anything HyperX has made so far in my opinion - yes, even the $150 Cloud Revolver S.
