Performance

Judging the performance of a mouse is base almost purely on subjective opinion. Some gamers like a fast, small and light mouse. Others want to use bigger movements and mice that fill the entire palm, while feeling the weight during movement. The Ideazon Reaper is a bit flatter than other mice. This means that you do not need to curb your hand as much and does feel different, but comfortable. The weight of the Reaper can be considered good for the bulk of gamers, not being as heavy as the Logitech MX 1000 or MX Revolution, but not as light as the I-Rock mice. For everyday use, the 400 DPI setting is unconventionally slow. Even at 800 DPI the mouse is noticably slower than I am used to, while 1600 DPI is somewhat faster. To get the usual feel in Windows, the 800 DPI setting in addition to a faster mouse movement setting through the incldued software needs to be set. Once you get it up and running to your liking it is a very good mouse. The mouse buttons themselves are quite loud and may even bother your neighbours at LAN parties or your roommate. The scroll wheel is completely slick and there is a bit too much friction. This means that you will not be able to get a few free scrolls with a bit more force.

I fired up my favorite game - Half-Life 2 and played through the first few levels. The game requires relatively fast and accurate movement. It may not be as speedy as Counter-Strike, but faster than games like El Matador, Condemned or Far Cry. The Ideazon Reaper worked very well after you really get your settings down the way you want. I even used the 1600 DPI setting during fierce fire fights and slow 400 DPI when trying to pick off enemies at a distance. The on the fly function comes in handy. Interestingly enough the 1600 DPI setting seemed more sensitive on the Idezon Reaper than the Saitek GM3200.

The pressure point of the mouse buttons, while loud, is great for games and does allow for a rapid succession for acurate bursts in action games.
