A Closer Look - Outside
The A1 is a sleek-looking, compact case. We did not expect anything else from In Win as they are known for beauty and design. The material mix is excellent with the use of thick steel and glass on the side. The base is made out of clear plastic and actually houses an LED lighting element.
The front is completely solid and features a prominent company logo. There is no visible PSU bay in the rear, which means the unit is embedded somewhere within the compact chassis. You may install a 120 mm fan here or even go for a liquid-cooling assembly of the same size if you like. There are two expansion slots even though a Mini-ITX board only comes with one. This ensures your dual-slot GPUs will fit, so you may make this a quite potent gaming rig. In Win has also placed a central power connector on the bottom. In fact, this reminds me a little of the center exhaust on super cars.
On the main side, you will find a glass panel that is held in place with two pull tabs on top. Turning the chassis over, you will see the same mechanism on the metal panel. A cool honeycomb-shaped air vent also allows for clean, cool air to be pulled in through the side.
A unique element of the A1 series is the Qi charger on the thick glass top cover for you to charge your smartphone wirelessly. There are several wireless mice out there that also use the same charging method, which could make this feature even more interesting. The I/O consists of the usual dual USB 3.0 and pair of audio plugs. In Win has placed these in a little aluminium panel, as I can imagine cutting holes into glass would be pretty difficult.
On the underside are two more spots for 120 mm fans, with a dust filter to keep things clean inside the chassis. The A1 Plus variant of this case actually includes these fans right out of the box.
