The Assembly Process - The Case

The heart of the chassis is one elaborate piece of metal. It has not been cut into its shape but has actually been die cast, which is quite the unusual method of production for an enclosure. It does make the resulting part extremely sturdy. The first step consists of plugging blue rubber spacers onto each of the four corners. Then, before putting the first orange frame parts on, one has to insert black rings. Once this has been done, simply slide the orange parts into place. The blue rubber pieces will make sure that they stay put.


Next, simply slide the two front and rear pieces of the orange frame onto the case before placing black metal stoppers onto one side of the chassis.


At this point, the frame has simply been pieced together and could fall apart at any time as there is nothing to hold its individual pieces together. This is where four metal rods come into play. One has to slide them across the openings in the bottom and top of the D-Frame. Thanks to the previously applied black metal stops, they slide in perfectly and stay in place.


At this point, you need to whip out the tools that In Win has provided to tighten down the nuts on both sides of the silver rods. After doing so, the case frame is actually pretty much finished.


The last step consists of putting the PSU bracket into place. It is adjustable in height and uses unique, long thumb screws to stay in place. The exterior frame of the D-Frame has now been fully assembled; it is only missing the glass side panels.
