Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL Review

Out of the box, the Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL looks similar to its smaller brethren, the Lian Li O11 Dynamic. Naturally, as the name implies, the XL is larger, allowing for more cooling and storage, but as we will see later on, there are plenty of other updates as well.

Most of the front consists of a glass panel. Down the right side is an aluminium strip, and Lian Li placed a thin RGB LED-equipped line between the glass and aluminium bits.

The main side of the O11 Dynamic XL is made purely out of glass, while the opposite side is solid and features two large air vents, both of which are covered with magnetic dust filters on the inside.

Interestingly enough, Lian Li has installed two sets of I/O. There are now two USB 3.0 ports on the bottom and a full set of USB 3.0, audio, and a USB-C port in the top. You will also find the usual power and reset buttons here, but Lian Li has also included an RGB controller so that you may adjust the lighting modes and colors with a press of the button on this panel as well.

In the rear, the top left is for the four HDDs divided into cages, of which there are twice as many as in the original O11 Dynamic. On top of that, the XL variants are fully hot-swappable due to the included PCBs for these cages. To the right, you will find a mounting possibility for a 120 mm exhaust fan.

The PSU bay in the bottom is situated to the left, behind the motherboard tray, out of sight. That said, you may also use any of the two HDD cage positions if you need to. To the right are the eight expansion slots, each of which is protected by a reusable cover. Lian Li also allows you to install a GPU vertically with an optional accessory, which would make for another two-slots-wide opening to accommodate dual-slot GPUs.

In the top, things look very similar to the O11 Dynamic. The XL comes with an aluminium cover that slides away to reveal an easy way to lift the panels off the chassis. On top of that is enough room for either three 120 or two 140 mm fans, or radiators of up to 240/360 mm in size. There is another magnetic dust filter to keep grime out of the interior.

Unlike the smaller O11 Dynamic, the XL variant allows for a radiator to be installed to the floor as well, so it is only prudent to find a large, easily removable dust filter here as well.
