MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Gaming X is among the fastest and most premium custom-design graphics cards in the market today. MSI wants to bring you a feature-packed RTX 4060 offering that isn't priced too close to the RTX 4060 Ti MSRP. The Gaming X is meant for those who don't just want the performance and features that the RTX 4060 has to offer, but also product design that looks like it's from a segment above, the best possible cooler noise, and of course, RGB LED lighting. The GeForce RTX 4060 is designed for maxed out gaming at 1080p, it's possible to play at even 1440p if you know your way around your game's settings, use GeForce Experience, or can take advantage of features such as DLSS.

The GeForce RTX 4060 is firmly positioned in the latest RTX 40-series, and is based on the latest Ada Lovelace graphics architecture. This provides you with two distinct advantages over previous-generation graphics cards that have flooded the market at comparable prices. First, you get DLSS 3 Frame Generation, a groundbreaking feature that nearly doubles performance by generating alternate frames completely using AI, and without involving the conventional graphics rendering machinery. And second, since the RTX 4060 uses the latest 5 nm EUV foundry process, you can expect a generational leap in energy efficiency, with NVIDIA rating the RTX 4060 with a typical graphics power of just 115 W, around 50% less than that of the RTX 3060.

Unlike the recently launched RTX 4060 Ti that nearly maxed out the AD106 silicon, the new RTX 4060 is based on a physically smaller chip, the AD107, which it maxes out, enabling all 24 streaming multiprocessors (SM) present. You get 3,072 CUDA cores, 96 Tensor cores, 24 RT cores, and 96 TMUs. The chip is endowed with 48 ROPs. The memory sub-system is mostly similar to that of the RTX 4060 Ti—you get 8 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit memory interface. This is slightly slower than on the Ti, with a data-rate of 17 Gbps, compared to 18 Gbps. The on-die L2 cache is smaller, too, at 24 MB, compared to 32 MB on the RTX 4060 Ti. This cache is what allows NVIDIA to use generationally narrower memory interfaces, as it reduces the round-trips to the video memory.

The MSI RTX 4060 Gaming X is the company's fastest graphics card based on this chip. It uses the company's latest Twin Frozr 9 cooling solution. This cooler has an aluminium fin-stack heatsink, with Core Pipe heatpipes that are flattened at the copper base-plate, for superior heat-transfer, the company's most advanced TorX Fan 5.0 with webbed impellers and a double ball-bearing, and an illuminated MSI logo on the top. The Gaming X features the company's highest factory-overclock for the RTX 4060, with the boost frequency set at 2595 MHz (compared to 2460 MHz reference), while leaving the memory untouched at 17 Gbps. MSI is pricing the RTX 4060 Gaming X at $330.
