Value and Conclusion

  • Nice bass response with good quality and quantity
  • Quite resolving when it gets the chance
  • Novel manufacturing process with vents galore to avoid pressure build-up
  • Vocals can be forward facing with a good fit, makes this decent for general media consumption then
  • Relatively wide soundstage
  • Takes well to EQ in the bass
  • Good channel matching in the retail set
  • Multiple sizes of different silicone ear tips
  • Nice aesthetics and build quality
  • Highly functional, good-looking cable included
  • Upper mids can come out overly bright/shouty
  • Treble response needs lots of work to get it on par with other IEMs in the price range
  • Doesn't respond well to EQ fixes in the treble either
  • Imaging is quite hazy
  • Large shell physical size can be uncomfortable or not even provide a good fit/seal
  • Cable has aggressively curved pre-formed ear hooks
There was a point where I had finished testing the first sample and was left quite disappointed, only to be told the mass production samples might be smaller and with better channel matching too. I was excited, since the first sample displayed issues that perhaps were solved, thus allowing the good points to shine further. Imagine my feelings then when I got the new sample in and the IEMs looked the exact same—turns out it's the next MUSE HiFi IEMs that will be smaller, not this one. Okay, fine, is channel matching better at least? Yes! So perhaps there was something to look forward to after all?

Unfortunately no, the underlying issues the first sample had were, if anything, even more obvious here. There is a lot going on in the upper mids and treble frequencies that I simply can't agree with. It's also not easily fixable too, and this is a shame since I see lots of potential for the vent and acoustic chamber system used here. The bass response is frankly one of the better ones I have listened to as well, so if that's all you care about then I can actually see a world where your $200 might go here. Just make sure you are okay with planar bass though, since this is as planar a set as it gets. You will notice the different timbre here and overall there are some issues on the technical side too. There's also the question mark over how your ears will even fit them, and then some of my complaints might not be valid either, whereas other people would simply not be able to fit them at all. The MUSE HiFi Power is a divisive IEM to say the least, and not one that I can recommend at this time.
