Table of Acronyms

The following table goes over the material acronyms you will encounter as you search for a gaming or office chair. Not only does this table go over what each acronym stands for, but the material traits of each entry are also detailed.

Natural Leather is divided into different categories:

Full-Grain, Top-Grain, Bonded Leather, and Split Leather
  • Easily cleaned
  • Less wasteful because it is a by-product of the animal industry
  • Occasionally more durable than synthetic leather
  • Cruel to animals - unethical in the eyes of some
  • Production introduces chemicals to the environment
  • No one can be completely sure of the quality since "Genuine Leather" as a tag could also mean "not of the best quality, though real leather"
  • Pricey
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Leather
  • No animal cruelty
  • Durable
  • Easily cleaned
  • Fade and stain resistant
  • Vegan-ecological
  • Affordable

  • Not breathable
  • Produced with potentially carcinogenic chemicals
Polyurethane (PU) Leather

Assembly

If you do not wish to spend too much time and effort on assembly, a second person is suggested. We begin by flipping the five-star base upside down in order to install the caster wheels. Once the caster wheels are in place, we turn the five-star base the right way to insert the gas lift and apply the dust cover shroud. The seat's base comes next, and it has to be flipped upside down since you have to unscrew the four bolts with the provided Allen key to install the butterfly tilt mechanism. An arrow on the tilt mechanism points to the front, so before you apply the screws, make sure it points in the right direction. The seat's base then goes on top of the gas lift.

The backrest is next. Two bolts exist on each side of the backrest, and they need to be removed with an Allen key. The openings on the backrest need to be aligned with those on the metal brackets of the seat's base.

Be careful not to pull the lever with which one adjusts the backrest's angle since the bracket will move back very abruptly if you do, which might have it hit and hurt you. A warning label has also been put on the brackets for that very reason, and you need to cut through it to get to the openings for the bolts.

The four bolts now need to be put back into their original positions to secure the backrest. Lastly, insert the two plastic bits on top of the metal brackets by pressing them in firmly.

Initial Impression

The Nitro Concepts S300 is quite wide and seems robust. The backrest has contoured edges, but its area of contact is comfortable enough for even larger gamers. The seat's base also has contoured edges, but is as wide as the backrest. We have seen plenty of gaming chairs covered with PU upholstery or leather lately, but never before have we come across a gaming chair with a different material such as this one.

The Nitro Concepts S300 is covered entirely in fabric. Our experience has shown that a fabric upholstery will reduce sweating, but it will be harder to clean as well. Only time will tell whether such holds true here.

While primarily black, there are radiant white ascents on the sides of both the backrest and seat. A detail that caught our attention are the matching, decorative plastic strips of the five-star base. It also feels as though there is plenty of high-density foam, which makes this a chair one with rather soft cushioning due to the sheer amount of it.
