Nitro Concepts Series S300 Gaming Chair Review

A Closer Look - Backrest

As mentioned before, the S300 adopted the sports bucket seat design. While we have come across this well-known chair design often, it is always slightly different from chair to chair, and the S300 is no exception. Comfort is the first thing every potential buyer has in mind when it comes to purchasing a chair, and the Nitro Concepts series promotes that.

The backrest was the first component to greet us after we had opened the package. We were surprised by the spacious backrest. The backrest's width is 53 cm (20.86") at the shoulder level and 56 cm (22.047") at the pelvis level, and it is 87 cm (34.25") long. The backrest has raised edges, and while our initial thought was that these raised edges could feel confining, they do turn outward a bit, which means nearly the whole backrest is available for use as you lean back into it.

The cushioning of the backrest is also impressive; there isn't just a lot of it in terms of volume, but it feels really cozy as well. Nitro Concepts S300 uses a breathable cold-foam upholstery and an integrated H.E.A.T (Health Enhancing Adjustment Technology) system to maximize comfort and cut down on sweating, especially during hot days. The backrest is reinforced with a steel frame, which allows the S300 to hold someone with a weight of up to 135 kg (297.62 lb).

The fabric upholstery is almost completely devoid of a stitching pattern, and almost its entire area of contact is black. Two radiant white stripes alongside the seat's base and up the headrest act as color ascents. Thankfully, the white color is kept to the sides since visible stains would otherwise end up all over the upholstery after a while, especially if the user is not careful enough. The stitching is immaculate and of the same radiant white color to make sure it goes with the chair's overall color scheme.

Using a lever on the right side of the seat's base, the backrest can be adjusted in tilt between 90–135 degrees. We have come across plenty of gaming chairs with a backrest that can recline by more than 135 degrees for a more relaxing body posture. However, it is our believe that most gamers would rather take a nap elsewhere.

The cut-out design at top of the headrest left a good impression on us. These plastic openings have a design we never came across before and allow the elastic bands of the neck cushion to go through.

The company's logo makes two appearances on the backrest; as radiant white stitching on the headrest and stamped onto the elastic bands.

A Closer Look at the Seat Base

The seat's base is as spacious as the backrest when it comes to fitting users with a weight of up to 135 kg (207.62 lb). For extra support, the seat's base is equipped with a steel frame. The seat's base is 57 cm (22.44") wide overall, which leaves you with a 47 cm (18.50") wide area to sit in. There seems to be more padding than on the backrest, which makes it very comfortable to sit in—it does also seem firm and durable enough to keep its shape and feel over time. The seat's base is also covered in breathable fabric and cold foam for better airflow and less sweating, which, as has already been stated, only time and use will be able to prove.

Even though the seat's base has contoured edges like the backrest, they point outward, which gives users a bigger sitting area. The chair's height can be adjusted via a lever on the right side, almost right under the seat's metal bracket, which is in our opinion a sub-optimal place for such a lever. The same lever can be used for the tilt/lock feature. The chair's height including the seat's base can be range from 128-140 cm (50.39–55.11"), which is quite high. When the chair's height is set to its maximum, my feet can't touch the ground because I am rather small (160 cm/62.99"). At maximum height, the S300 is amongst the tallest chairs we have ever seen, which makes it a great choice for tall users!

The S300 is equipped with a rocking mechanism with up to a 14 degrees angle. The tilt's tension can be adjusted via a knob under the seat's base. The seat's base is mostly covered in black while two radiant white stripes decorate both sides. The stitching on the seat's base is also radiant white and very clean. There is no company name or logo on the seat's base.

Armrests

While shooting the video, we noticed the single button on the armrests, which had us assume that these are 2D. However, while trying the S300 out, we figured out that the armrests are indeed 3D. The polyurethane armrests can be adjusted in height, while the armpads slide forward and backward and move inward and outward by up to 15 degrees. The size of the armpads is typical, and both are comfortable since there's enough padding.

Hydraulics

Under the seat's base is the metal class 4 gas lift. The gas lift can hold someone with a weight of up to 135 kg (297.62 lb) and is also responsible for all height adjustments.

Five-Star Base And Caster Wheels

The five-star base is out of nylon and seems solid. A decorative strip out of plastic and in the same radiant white color as the chair's other white highlights, which has it go with the chair's aesthetics, appears on each of its five edges.

The casters measure 50 mm across and are made out of hard nylon with a polyurethane covering, which makes these extremely quiet. The casters have a smaller diameter than those of most chairs use, which doesn't seem to create any problems with this chair.

Support Cushions

Two cushions, one for neck support and another for lumbar support, are included in the package. Since no lumbar support is integrated into the backrest, a large soft cushion covered in fabric promises to offer support to the back and pelvis areas instead.

The lumbar-support cushion has both the company's name in radiant white stitching and the flame logo in red stitching. It comes with elastic bands that have quick-release clips, and these bands go through the openings on the headrest and the opening in the lower part of the backrest.

The smaller cushion is for neck support and is also covered in fabric. It has elastic bands that go through the cut-outs on the headrest. Since it is the smallest of the two provided cushions, it only has the flame logo of the company in radiant white stitching to match the one on the headrest.
