New vs. Old Models: EPIC Series

The EPIC series consists of four dissimilar upholstery types with different features and price tags. The PU Vegan upholstery starts at €339.90, but is available in twelve distinct colors and design variations with variable price tags. This chair series mostly caters to gamers since its design is squarely based on sports bucket seats. Moreover, it includes chair models dedicated to specific games and teams, and its cushioning feels more compact than with the other two noblechairs series.

For example, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas has a price tag of €389.90 and comes in the homonymous F1 team colors, while the PU vegan variant in black/red costs €339.90.

The real leather model comes in two color options and is for users who are after that sportive spirit while indulging in the high-end category. The real leather upholstery is also treated well and will last longer. The red/black option is their playful counter to the affluent black version of the Epic. The models of this line have a price tag of €549.90.

The Nappa upholstery edition is for those who can afford it and want a truly luxurious gaming chair. Since this design is their deluxe edition of a sports bucket seat, it nicely fits into a modern office as well. We should clarify that the grain leather is the outermost skin layer, and also the strongest layer as it works as a protective shield for animals, which is why its fibers are so dense, tighter than with other skin layers. This is the most extreme version of the Epic series and has a €999.90 asking price!

To begin with, the matte black color of the hybrid upholstery and its unique touch-feel are indescribable. All EPIC gaming chairs have immaculate stitching, but the strong black stitching of the hybrid upholstery is even more readily visible, so faulty stitching would easily be made out. The stitching pattern on both the base of the seat and backrest differs based on the upholstery type. noblechairs' characteristic diamond stitching pattern is absent on the hybrid upholstery, for example, as are the open cells. The new German-made upholstery material consists of an ingenious blend of vinyl and polyurethane. Vinyl is a plastic made from ethylene (found in crude oil) and chlorine (found in regular salt). At the same time, the polyurethane or PUL fabric is a waterproof fabric, usually polyester, although it may also be cotton or a heated polyblend material that has been laminated to a polyurethane layer. It is lightweight and extremely durable, and hence tear-resistant.

The best characteristics of both materials, vinyl and PU, are on a new level with this upholstery, and microfine pores were included to allow the air flowing through these pores to vaporize sweat. As such, no sweat-related issues should crop up.

Additional features:
  • Premium matte finish on the hybrid material
  • Minimalist stitching on the Black Edition
  • noblechairs head and lumbar-support pillows included
  • New 4D armrests, enhanced with metal buttons and soft padding
  • Stainless steel reclining lever
  • High-quality rocking mechanism
  • Certified ergonomic comfort
  • Quiet 60 mm casters for hard and carpet flooring
  • Even easier to clean
  • Exquisite metallic harness holes (EPIC Series only)
  • Built-in adjustable lumbar support and memory foam headrest (HERO Series only)

noblechairs has made further modifications for a bigger visual impact. Older EPIC series models came with cutouts on the headrest for the elastic bands to go through. These cutouts used to be covered with glossy black plastic, yet on the new EPIC chairs (and the Mercedes-AMG model), these cutouts are painted aluminium in color, which is the intensest color highlight of this chair with a hybrid upholstery. The metal plate with the company name and logo on the backrest is completely black, with the letters in gunmetal. The overall sitting experience has become more comfortable since the cushioning is softer than with the first EPIC series.

The features and dimensions of the fresh EPIC series models are listed above.

The armrests have a different design and more padding, and their dimensions have changed as well. These armrests are smaller compared to the original ones (photo on the right above) and have rounder edges. Additionally, their front button, as well as the bars which move the armrests up and down, are now out of stainless steel and painted in a dark, matte color. Their PU cover is more elegant and has a glossy finish.

The lumbar-support cushions for all models have a detachable strap, so you could use these as you would a sofa pillow, by throwing it on the chair.

Since the stitching of the black series with vinyl/hybrid PU leather is also black, the embroidered name and logo of the company on the base of the seat are done in their exquisitely intense black thread.

The tilt lever on the right side of the base has received a major face-lift. It has become larger, has a better grip, and is made out of stainless steel, which is also fingerprint resistant. The company name and logo are engraved into the lever, which is one of the more elegant details of the newer series.

The black powder-coated aluminium base has a more geometrical shape and is darker; it now also looks much more durable than before. All EPIC chairs can cater to users of up to 120 kg (265.55 lb). The first two photos show the older base, and the last photo is of the updated EPIC base.
