Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC Unboxing
The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC is a premium custom-design RTX 4090 product by the company that's positioned just below the AORUS Gaming series. The card features the company's latest iteration of the WindForce 3X cooling solution, which is significantly thicker, and with a lot more surface area than the previous-generation RTX 3090 Gaming OC. You also get plenty of innovations by GIGABYTE that add a premium touch to the product.
As with the other custom-design cards in this article, GIGABYTE ships the RTX 4090 Gaming OC in 2-layer packaging. The outer paperboard layer has a glossy surface, with true-color prints detailing the key features and specs of the card.
The inner hard cardboard box opens up into two levels of foam, the top one serving as a lid for the one below, and has an insert with an envelope containing some documentation. The second layer has the card nested inside, along with its accessories.
Accessories include the NVIDIA-designed adapter that converts four 8-pin PCIe power to a 12+4 pin 12VHPWR; a height-adjustable support bracket, some documentation, and a QR code that unlocks additional product warranty when you register your purchase with GIGABYTE.
It may not be an AORUS Gaming product, but the GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Gaming OC has plenty to make for a premium product. A matte-finish alloy shroud caps off the vast aluminium fin-stack heatsink. Three 100 mm fans turn in the opposite directions, while guiding air in the same direction (onto the heatsink). This is done to reduce turbulence between the fans. The shoud extends into a solid 3-D backplate. The PCB is two-thirds the card's length, so air from the third fan flows through a large hole in the backplate.
Display outputs include three DisplayPorts and an HDMI. Power is drawn from a single 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector.
This switch lets you toggle between two the card's BIOSes, one of which runs the card quieter, albeit slower than the other.
This is a 4-slot graphics card, making it thicker than the Founders Edition. It's also longer, measuring 34 cm in length, and heavier, at 2.02 kg.
