Display in Action
Installing the Sentry LX is done just like any traditional optical drive. As you can see, it fits perfectly inside the Guardian 921 case. The thick aluminum front should go beautifully with premium cases from Lian-Li and the likes as well. The display is bright and the numbers are clearly visible, even from an angle.
Hitting the reset button makes all the areas light up at once. this way you can check if any segments of the LCD are damaged. After the reset, the fans are adjusted according to the temperature of each diode and the clock & time is reset to 12:00 and 1.1.2008.
Setting the clock, along with the date is quite easy with the afore mentioned buttons. These settings will be saved, even if you turn off the PC, thanks to the small battery. You may also turn on a temperature alarm, which will activate if a temperature rises past a certain point.
The fan area has a few animations which do look quite nice, but may prove to be a bit distracting if it is within your field of vision during work. There are blades which move around, and the many numbers may add a bit to that distraction. When setting the fan speed manually, you may even turn off the selected cooling unit completely if you wish.
The clock area on the other hand does not hold any blinking parts and should prove very useful when wanting to keep an eye on the time during a longer gaming session for example.
