Value and Conclusion

  • The OrigenAE C10 sells for $40 USD in the US and 29€ in Europe.
  • Small size
  • Ideal for HTPC cases like the OrigenAE S10V
  • Better performance that stock
  • Simple installation
  • Standard size fan can be replaced easily
  • Priced competitively
  • Fan is louder than the stock heatsink
The OrigenAE C10 is a small heatsink ideal for HTPC and other low-profile cases. The performance is better than the stock heatsink and the installation is just as simple. One nice feature about the C10 is that the standard-sized 70mm fan is not a proprietary one, and can easily be replaced if the user needs or chooses to replace it. The $40 USD price tag may seem a bit much for a small heatsink, but after looking around the web I could not find a heatsink this size that was anything but a revamped version of a stock heatsink.

The main downside to the C10 was that the fan noise was louder than the stock heatsink's fan at full speed and in PWM mode. For an HTPC system most users want something that is ultra-quiet, and the fan on the C10 just doesn't do that.

Overall, I would recommend the OrigenAE C10 to anyone who needs a small heatsink different than the stock cooler, as long as they would not mind the added noise.
