Subjective Value Conclusion

The Origin PC EON17-X is a huge laptop. The first questions that stood out to me when powering it on was how it will sound. I mean, who isn't interested when your laptop has a subwoofer? Thankfully, it's not just a gimmick and actually sounds really nice, and that's important as a DTR laptop.


The EON17-X is a laptop that can be upgraded, and it's definitely not hard to do so. Undo some screws, slide and tilt the cover, and you're ready to go. Pop out the battery for safety before you touch a screwdriver. No worries about the PC being in sleep mode if you swap out RAM! Full-size SD slot. Mic and headphone jacks, not just a single combo unit, so you can use your high-end headset and mod mic combo. USB ports spaced so you can have multiple drives plugged in there if you want. A decent amount of thought has been put into this unit.


Origin PC starts with a great base and then adds their touches. I had to smile when I first powered mine up and was greeted by what you see above. My EON17-X was ready and waiting for me to get to work testing it.


I'd be remiss if I didn't take a moment to talk about the top, too. The printing on the top is amazing and really showcases just how personal they can make this device for you. That's what Origin PC is all about: giving you that personalized experience using some standardized parts and big familiar names so you can say you got the best.


Even the trackpad has a nice textured surface that grips onto your finger nicely, and the sleeve they include is just that little bit over the top.


And it should be because this EON17-X really is over the top. Just look at how big it is. My Xenia 14 is half the size. But that's OK because I love this top, and the rest—the EON17-X is my main PC now. It's really that good. It's hard to overlook the full desktop parts here, and the mobile 3080 performs really well.
