Introduction

Dating back to 1985, Patriot started in the United States San Francisco Bay Area and has since expanded, with distribution channels around the world to offer consumers access to a wide range of different products. While the headquarters may still be located in the USA, not all of the company's products are assembled in the country, with facilities in Fremont, California, Taipei, and Taiwan.

Patriot currently offers multiple memory products, with consumer and enterprise lines to fit a wide range of consumer needs. Taking the established DDR4 Viper brand, Patriot brings forward the name with a new addition, appropriately named Viper Venom for its DDR5 memory. This product is available in both RGB and non-RGB formats. Configurations include 16 GB (2x 8 GB) and 32 GB (2x 16 GB) kits, with frequencies currently ranging from 5200 MT/s to 7400 MT/s. It doesn't stop there either, with Viper Xtreme 5 series on the horizon, pushing into the 8000 MT/s territory later this year.


In this review, we will be taking a closer look at the Patriot Viper Venom (Non-RGB) DDR5-7200 memory kit marketed towards hardcore gamers and PC enthusiasts. This kit has modest primary timings of 34-42-42-84 at 1.45 V for the main 7200 MT/s X.M.P profile. Pushing well beyond what was possible just a year ago, DDR5 is continually breaking frequency records, which invariably trickles down to consumers. Even though this specific memory kit isn't breaking any new records, it is still best suited for Intel Z790 based motherboards paired with 13th Generation Processors due to the high frequency XMP profile.
