Value and Conclusion

  • The PC Power & Cooling Silencer 760W retails for $129.99
  • Good price/perfomance ratio
  • One of the few PSUs that passed all of our Advanced Transient Response tests
  • High efficiency
  • Handled full power flawlessly even beyond 50°C ambient
  • Tight voltage regulation at all rails
  • Excellent ripple/noise suppresion for +12V and 3.3V. At 5V is moderate.
  • Seven year warranty
  • Efficiency at low loads could be better
  • Instead of the two 6 pin PCIe connectors we would like it to have two 6+2 pin PCIe ones for a total of four 6+2 pin PCIe connectors
PC Power & Cooling's Silencer 760 W impressed me with its performance. I very scarcely encounter a PSU that manages to keep voltage regulation below 2% at all rails and on top of that passes the Advanced Transient Reponse tests. The latter tests were the Achilles' heel for much stronger and way more expensive PSUs but apparantly not for PC Power & Cooling's Silencer 760W. A slight weakness of the PSU is its low efficiency at low loads which managed to pass 80% only beyond 91W load. Ripple/noise suppression at 5V seems to be affected by a minor glitch on our sample, yet it didn't fail that test.

PC Power & Cooling is worthy of its reputation - the Silencer 760W is a great PSU with high efficiency, low ripple, tight voltage regulation, lots of connectors, seven year warranty and a good price for what it has to offer. If you are searching for a strong, affordable and non-modular PSU that can easily handle two hi-end VGAs then you should put Silencer 760W on top of your list.
