Value & Conclusion

Rosewill EX-500

  • The Rosewill EX-500 goes for 40 US dollars excluding taxes on Amazon.
  • Well priced
  • Balanced soundscape
  • High-quality housing
  • Excellent cabling
  • Great microphone
  • Functional controller
  • Standard tip shape, so use your own
  • Two types of tips included - in three sizes
  • Nice pouch included
  • Assembly does not seem super clean
  • Rather bulky
  • Just needs that extra kick to really show off what it can do
  • Volume controls would have been great
The Rosewill EX-500 is quite the interesting beast. In terms of build quality, it scores with its housing material, high quality wiring, microphone, and function button. Yet it is just a little bulky in comparison to what is out there, and it seems like the assembly process is not quite as spick and span as with the EX-700. However, that does not mean that it is a bad in-ear headphone - on the contrary. Its overall build quality is great for units of this price tag.

In terms of sound, you do need to turn it up ever so slightly higher to really get the full range to show itself, which those who like to crank their in-ears on the road may end up missing. But the sound is quite balanced, with the "treble tips" helping ever so slightly in raising the highs for that little bit of extra subjective clarity.

So for just under 40 US dollars, you get a very good set of extras and some worthy sound quality to go with that - all packaged into a nice, sturdy, and high-quality in-ear headphone.

Rosewill EX-700

  • The Rosewill EX-700 goes for 50 US dollars excluding taxes on Amazon.
  • Great price
  • Quite diverse but with a full soundscape
  • High-quality housing
  • Excellent assembly
  • Slim shape
  • Excellent cabling
  • Great microphone
  • Functional controller
  • Symmetric design, so just pop on and go if you don't care about channel sides
  • Standard tip shape, so use your own
  • Two types of tips included - in three sizes
  • Nice pouch included
  • Assembly does not seem super clean
  • Rear housing prone to grooves and scratches as edge above and below the logo are not diamond cut
  • Volume controls would have been great
The Rosewill EX-700 not only offers a lot of sound for the price but also scores big with overall build quality. The high-quality cable is something you will not see on many in-ears of this price segment. The same goes for the housing and three differently sized tip variants. The slim housing is great - even if it is slightly long. It sits well enough within the ear canal - you should not have to worry about yanking them out all the time.

The EX-700 is loud and quite clear. The soundscape pushes the treble and bass just ever so slightly more than the mids, but that works quite well and should get your head bobbing when your favorite song comes on. Just remember, great build quality and aesthetics aside: don't compare the EX-700 to in-ears going for hundreds of dollars.

But for the price, it offers a great experience, with the only real gripe being the somewhat easy-to-scratch housing's edge as it lacks diamond cutting. The Rosewill EX-700 delivers on a lot of points at quite the attractive price, though.
