Packaging and Accessories

Packaging for the Royal Kludge S85 TKL follows a similar design scheme as what we saw with the RK84 before, perhaps suggesting that all Royal Kludge keyboards are likely to come in a similar looking box. It goes for an angled two-tone colorway using black and orange colors, with a simplified render split between the two color sections on the front along with the brand logo and product page. This continues on the back too, where we also find contact information for the company. A sticker on the side also confirms the exact SKU inside, including the switches used. Opening the box, we see the keyboard inside a wax paper wrap and a hard plastic dust cover on top, with more cardboard all around for added protection.

Royal Kludge provides a user manual (online version here) under the keyboard, and this goes over the various pre-programmed functions on the keyboard—I highly recommend going through it. The other accessories are found in a separate compartment to the top, including four spare switches, the expected USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and a handy combination metal wire-style keycap puller and switch remover tool with branding in the central plastic piece.
