Packaging
The Drive
The drive conforms to the dimensions set forth by the 2.5" form factor. It is made out of plastic and only 7 mm thick, which makes it compatible with Intel's Ultrabook specification.
The SanDisk Ultra 3D uses the SATA 6 Gbps interface. It is compatible with any older SATA standard, but will in such a case work at reduced performance.
On the PCB, you'll find the controller, eight flash chips, and two DRAM cache chips.
Chip Component Analysis
The Marvell 88SS1074 6 Gb/s flash controller supports four flash channels. It was released in 2014 and is built using 28 nm fab technology. It's used on drives like the Crucial MX300, WD Red SSD, and Kingston UV500.
The flash chips are 3D TLC NAND made by SanDisk.
Two Micron DDR3L-1866 DRAM chips provide a total of 1 GB of DRAM cache for the mapping tables of the SSD.
