Installation

To install the SilentiumPC Fortis 3, start by preparing the backplate. Once done, position it on the motherboard.


With the backplate installed, put the four plastic washers over the screws to then slide the mounting arms into place. Secure these with the nuts SilentiumPC provides. Once that is done, apply some thermal paste in preparation for mounting the heatsink.


Using the included screws, attach the heatsink to the mounting hardware. Once done, attach the fan to the heatsink and plug the fan into the CPU fan header.

The install was relatively quick and painless. I would rate the process a 9 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest). It's by no means the best mounting hardware available, but it's solid and easy to work with.
