Value and Conclusion

  • The Sirtec High Power RockSolid 1000W is not widely available yet, some european shops list it for around €180 which comes down to around $200. Quite a good price for a PSU in this class.
  • High efficiency
  • Very Quiet
  • Six PCI-E power connectors!
  • 8-Pin connectors for new VGA cards
  • Modular
  • Lots of connectors
  • Cables are fully sleeved
  • Competitive price
  • Bigger than standard ATX
  • 3.3V line a bit unstable
Sirtec's High Power RockSolid 1000W is one of the few power supplies that offers up to six PCI-Express power connectors. So if you are looking at a future rig with three powerful video cards this might be a good choice. Since only the most important connectors are fixed to the case, you can start small and gradually add more cables as your power needs go up.
Sirtec has also ensured that the PSU has a high efficiency which, aside from helping the environment, means that there is less heat generated in the case. This results in slower fan speeds and less annoying noise for you. With over 83% efficiency, the Sirtec HighPower Rock Solid 1000W can even claim the number one spot among our test group of 20 PSUs so far.
While the price of ~$200 quite a bargain for a 1000W PSU it is still a fairly big chunk of money and you should make sure you need all that power or if the money is better spent on a faster video card, or more memory.
