Swiftech H240-X Review

Packaging and Contents

Swiftech packaged the H240-X into a rather large box that measures 37.4 cm in length, 24.1 cm in width, and 17.1 cm in height. The top lists all supported sockets and shows the cooler in all its glory, with its different color options for the CPU block. The warranty's length is also clearly depicted in the bottom-left corner. The small info box lists some of the cooler's features; these include its Apogee XL block, visible coolant level, and LED back lighting - all of which are second fiddle to the plug and play design of a standard closed-loop cooler, but with the option for expansion. Some information on who Swiftech is and what the box contains has also been put on the front. The left side only sports the H240-X product name and company logo.

On the back, Swiftech compares the H240-X's performance to that of its competitors, and there is a list of its features in various languages. Move on to the right side and you will again see the H240-X product name and Swiftech's logo. The bottom of the box details the cooler's specifications and includes a few mechanical drawing as a reference, with detailed measurements.

Contents

Opening the box up reveals the cooler, seated in a cardboard tray. All the accessories are inside small plastic bags, and foam packaging peanuts keep everything snug during transit. Overall, packaging is pretty solid and better than with the H220-X, which is a nice improvement.

Swiftech supports all modern sockets with the H240-X, though there is a small caveat: LGA775 and LGA1366 require a separate backplate that is not included. All other sockets are supported right out of the box. The H240-X is pretty much ready to go for socket LGA115x users with little in the way of necessary preparation. As such, most of the additional hardware shown is for AMD sockets and Intel's LGA2011. With the fans mounted and most of the Intel mounting hardware pre-installed, the kit is nearly fully pre-assembled. Considering LGA115x platforms have been extremely popular, such is also a great testament to Swiftech's efforts in making their cooler as easy to install as possible.
