A Closer Look

Like the H360 X3, the radiator on the H240 X3 is based on a standard 240 mm design and has an FPI (fins-per-inch) count of 14. While the fin density is lower than what is typically seen in other all-in-one liquid coolers, it should allow for better airflow through the radiator and thus lower noise levels at similar RPM. Sadly, due to the design and how the pump and reservoir are attached, push/pull fan setups are not possible on the Swiftech H240 X3.

To simplify the design, the pump, reservoir, and radiator are of course configured as one unit. Rather than use an acrylic reservoir, Swiftech is using tempered glass with no LEDs featured on or around it. The pump, which features a maximum discharge of 660 l/hr, has a PWM RPM range of 1200–3000, which is impressive considering its 6 W TDP. It also features a software-current-limiting fail-safe and even has a hardware shutoff built-in in case of a firmware malfunction. Finally, the MTBF rating is listed as 60,000 hours for the pump. If you want to service the system, Swiftech has a port on the top for refilling or draining. This is where you will add your coolant dye if you are inclined to do so. Tubing length is a solid 15 inches, which is more than enough for the majority of systems.

The Apogee SKF LT CPU block features built-in IRIS ALEDs for illumination under its white top. In terms of the interior, it uses the same Apogee SKF thermal engine and Skived Fins as on all the other SKF blocks since their release in 2017. The fittings used are barb-and-clamp style, and while they work just fine, they lack the premium feel of proper compression fittings. However, when you consider this unit is only a few dollars more than a typical closed-loop, RGB-equipped 240 mm liquid cooler, well, I can forgive the choice of more affordable fittings. The base itself is pure copper, and while it has some machining marks, it is still polished to where it almost has a mirror shine.

The Helix-120-IRIS fans feature double ALED rings for solid illumination. They have a decent PWM range of 900–1800 RPM and feature a maximum airflow of 60 CFM.
