The following graph shows the overall performance of the NAS in all the tests we conducted using our custom-made software.
Overall performance was high; however, as you can see in the graph, performance with encrypted file transfers wasn't stellar even though Intel's Rangeley CPU includes an AES-NI hardware encryption engine. The lack of QuickAssist support is probably the reason behind the performance with encrypted files.
Let's now compare the performance of the DS1815+ to that of other NAS devices.
Close to the top in the above comparison graphs, with only a small difference to the best-performing NAS units, the DS1815+ scored very well against the competition. We believe that it could achieve even higher network transfer speeds with more RAM.
