Router Set Up And Web Interface Video

The easiest way to set up the router is through a smart device using Synology's DS router app, which is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.


The smart device has to be connected to the router's WiFi signal, and as for the password, you will find it on the product label. If you are a hardcore admin, you can connect the router to your network through its LAN port and type its IP address (192.168.1.1) into a browser. The problem with going that route, however, is that other routers will usually use this IP as well, which creates conflicts, so it is way better to perform a wireless setup with the router not connected to the LAN.

DS router allows for the setup of QuickConnect, which allows you to access the router remotely through the Internet.


This is the initial screen of the DS router app.


An overview of the devices that are connected to the router is provided once you select the option "overview" in the menu. There, you will see download and upload speeds, which tells you what is eating up your bandwidth should you happen to be wondering. You can also check on the signal quality. It would be nice (for mean admins) if there was an option to disconnect specific devices.


You can perform a firmware update through DS router.


The security menu is very important. You better get the hang of it.
