TechPowerUp Keyboard of the Year
Wind Sin65 Custom Keyboard Kit
The
Wind Studio Sin65 custom keyboard kit is one of the best keyboard offerings we've come across this year, and from a company founded as recently as 2021. Offering a plethora of color options, diverse PCBs, and mount types, this kit empowers users to assemble their ideal keyboard. While the Sin65 comes with a price tag reflecting its premium features, at $288/308 for the wired/wireless kits in any color, it remains justifiably competitive in the current keyboard group buy-oriented market. This isn't for beginners; rather, it caters to enthusiasts seeking a customized high-end set at a more reasonable price.
TechPowerUp Hardware of 2023 Runner Up
GamaKay LK75
The
GamaKay LK75 has an quirky feel to it with a highly ergonomic layout, a curvy, condensed design, and a tiny round OLED display that can show you pretty much any thing you can get it to while also doubling up as a volume knob. This wireless keyboard comes in a 75% (83-key) layout, and supports Bluetooth, RF 2.4 GHz, and wired USB (recharges when plugged in). Despite minor flaws like volume display discrepancies, it offers noteworthy features—good keystroke damping, pre-lubed high quality switches and stabilizers, and an integrated weight—all at a $100 holiday sale price. Though commonalities with pricier keyboards exist, the LK75 stands out with unique elements like Adobe Photoshop-themed keycaps. While the software and hardware implementation could improve, the keyboard's affordability, typing experience, and compact form factor make it a commendable choice, with potential for further refinement.
Notable Mentions
The
G.Skill KM250 RGB and
Skyloong GK75 are honorable mentions in this category. The KM250 RGB is widely available as a mainstream brand offering and features a 67-key 65% layout with a silicone RGB diffuser framing keys that are well spread apart. This mechanical keyboard features decent Outemu switches and PBT double-shot keycaps. The best aspect is its price, just $40. The Skyloong GK75 is another interesting choice given its retro-futuristic looks, and 80% layout that allows you to swap between more knobs and keys as well as a single or split space bay key for added customization.
