We used a high-quality CEM-8852 Sound DB Meter for these measurements. It was was installed 50 cm away from the NAS. The ambient noise in our lab was below 30 dBA while we took these noise measurements.
The NAS is quiet enough while operating normally, although not among the quietest we have ever tested. While fan speed increased a little during our tests, the fan only operated at maximum RPM during the boot-up phase.
