Initial Setup

Once you remove the NAS from its package, you can either run the bundled software disc or execute the steps in its quick installation guide, which we will show you below.

The quick installation guide will prompt you to install the HDD(s), connect the network- and power cables, and type "http://install.thecus.com" into your browser to begin the installation procedure. An internet connection is required for this procedure to work.

The above link will take you to a page where you pick your NAS model and the operating system of the client PC.

Download and install the Thecus Intelligent NAS application and you are ready to begin the installation procedure. The aforementioned application will find your NAS IP after it has been connected to the network and powered up. The next step will ask you to pick a RAID mode. It will also check on whether the HDDs you installed are empty before starting the rather short initialization procedure (it'll take around five minutes).

With the initialization process done, you will be asked to create your Thecus ID. You can also log in if you already have one. Your Thecus ID provides you with a DDNS address you can use to find your NAS' real IP address on the net. The latter allows you to connect to the NAS remotely.

The RAID Volume Creation wizard will guide you through all essential set-up steps for creating the RAID level that covers your needs.
