Installation

To install the Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT, start by preparing the backplate. First, place the mylar film onto the plate; that is, before putting the screws in place. Then, use the plastic washers to hold it all together. The backplate can now go onto the back of the motherboard.


Take the proper screw pillars and screw them down to firmly hold the backplate in place. You can now secure the anchoring mount to these screw pillars before applying some thermal paste to the CPU.


Secure the heatsink to the anchoring mount with the mounting plate and provided screws. With that done, the heatsink is now fully secured and ready. Simply attach the fan with the included fan clips and plug it into the CPU fan header, and that's it, you are good to go!

Thermalright's universal mounting system makes installing the Le Grand Macho RT relatively quick and painless; however, installing the cooler into a system with the motherboard already mounted will be a bit more difficult. Still, the process is rather easy compared to many competing products because of Thermalright's straightforward design and included magnetic screwdriver. Overall, Thermalright has done a great job here and I would, as such, rate the installation procedure a 9 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest).
