Software

Software is not included with the Smart1000LCD, but is available on the Tripp Lite website. Since operating systems like Windows XP support battery backup units, it is not truly necessary, unless there are multiple UPSs being monitored by one PC. However, you will get additional information from Tripp Lite's software not found on the Power Meter tab in the Power Options applet in the Control Panel. The software shows input and output information, battery status information and data about the UPS itself.


The Settings window will allow to user to add additional UPS devices, adjust Shutdown Settings, and Power Schemes. There is even an option to allow the software to send out broadcast signals whenever there are "battery events," which would be great for a network administrator.
