Value and Conclusion

  • The Vidabox vCase3 carries an MSRP of USD 199 and is available now from Vidabox. Vidabox has issued a special $50 off discount coupon "vCase3-TPU" to show their appreciation for TPU readers. The coupon code is good through August 31, 2010.
  • Stylish brushed aluminum front panel fits in with other home theater components with ease
  • Low profile design still has room for three hard drives for up to 6 TB of storage
  • Supports standard sized power supply and optical drive
  • Plenty of ventilation for good heat dispersion even when stacked with other components
  • Integrated multi-media card reader with support for most commonly used memory cards
  • Minimalistic front panel doesn't distract from media experience
  • Price is a tad high for some potential buyers
  • Top panel could use better support to prevent bending
The Vidabox vCase3 is an excellent HTPC case at a decent price. It combines sleek aluminum styling with steel chassis construction to keep the cost down. Styled like many modern day home theater components, the vCase3 will fit right in with your existing hardware without sticking out like a sore thumb. The low profile design is compact yet still allows you to make use of a standard ATX power supply and optical drive. Durable powder coating inside and out is scratch resistant and resists fingerprints while still looking great. There is plenty of ventilation for even some of the hotter running machines that can make use of this case and there is enough room to house 3x 3.5" hard disks for up to 6 TB of data storage. The foam rubber sound dampening material on the inside of the top panel along with the rubber shock mount hard drive and optical drive mounting system keep unwanted noises and vibrations to a minimum.
Compared to similar HTPC cases with the same feature set, Vidabox provides a quality product with better versatility than their competitors' offerings. Vidabox also provides great customer support for their products including a support forum and direct email support.
