Viotek GFV27DAB Review - A Great Value 27-inch Gaming Monitor

Connectivity

In terms of video inputs, the Viotek GFV27DAB is equipped with a pair of DisplayPort 1.2 ports and an HDMI 2.0 port.

A single USB Type-A port is a service port, which will come in handy if and when Viotek releases a firmware update for the GFV27DAB. The update itself can be initiated in the OSD. As we know, PC monitors can greatly improve through firmware updates, especially in terms of input lag, so it's great to see Viotek didn't necessarily lock us into the factory-supplied firmware revision of this monitor, which most other manufacturers do.

Last in line is a 3.5-millimeter audio output you can use to route the sound to your headphones. The GFV27DAB has no built-in speakers.

Power Consumption

The Viotek GFV27DAB is powered by an external power brick. It's a generic 54 W (4.5 A, 12 V) switching adapter that has to be connected to a power outlet with the supplied IEC cable.

I've used the Brennenstuhl PM 231 E power meter to determine the power consumption of the monitor at various brightness levels and in Power Saving mode, which it enters as soon as the PC goes to sleep. My power consumption measurements are summed up in the chart below. They've been made after resetting the monitor to factory defaults.

Power consumption is what we'd expect from a 27" QHD gaming panel. The panel also doesn't drop below 30 cd/m² brightness with brightness at its lowest setting, and there's a sudden jump in brightness in the 90–100% range. The rest of the range is fairly linear, with every 25% corresponding to a brightness increase of around 60–70 cd/m².
