User Interface

Unlike the non-Pro variant, which does not have any smarts, the Wemax Go Pro offers its own UI, which is actually based on Android. The general layout is similar to that of the more affordable one, with Quick access icons across the top and larger, embedded applications along the bottom.

Quick Access Icons

The quick access buttons are for the user manual, Wemax Launcher, auto focus, keystone, and ability to provide feedback. The Wemax Launcher may also be triggered by pressing the dedicated button on the remote and, as you can see, the shot above lists three pre-installed elements: Aptoide TV, GetApps app store, and Firefox. The fourth, Netflix, we actually installed ourselves, but more on that later.

The five main icons along the bottom bring up a pretty intuitive settings menu that for the most part takes users to the specific Android settings. The built-in file manager is pretty simple, but functional. You may also cast from any of your devices by selecting the third option on the main menu, which brings up a device selection for you to pick from. Then there is the same music mode we saw on the Wemax Nova, so you may use the unit to play tunes via Bluetooth, and lastly, there is the ability to easily pick inputs directly from the main interface as well.
