Packaging

This PSU comes in a small square box that looks nice enough. On its front are a capacity description and the series name, and many icons that describe its features can be found in the bottom-left corner. Next to these resides the 80 Plus Bronze badge.

The sides hold a useful description of all cables and the power specifications of all Maverick S models.

On the rear of the box is a multilingual features list.

Contents

The box doesn't protect the PSU and its internals all too well since there are no foam spacers or cardboard inserts.

The bundle includes an AC power cord, the modular cables, a Velcro strap, several zip ties, a set of screws, and the user's manual.

Exterior

A budget unit, its unique fan grill and orange fan still make for an extraordinary external look. The black finish is decent, and Xigmatek didn't use a boring honeycomb-styled exhaust grill, but one that will hamper airflow much less. The small on/off switch is right beneath the AC receptacle.

On its sides are the power specifications table, the series name, and the 80 Plus Bronze badge.

The modular panel in the rear consists of no more than six connectors since the unit's capacity wouldn't be able to provide for more. There is also a plastic grommet on the cable-exit hole to protect all affixed cables from any sharp edges.

One of the screws in the rear is covered by the usual "void warranty" sticker. We will obviously have to tamper with it to take the PSU apart.

The unit is very compact—it is currently one of the smallest ATX PSUs available on the market.

Cables

All peripheral cables are flat, and all affixed and both PCIe cables are round. All the cables are also black, though, which makes them a bit harder to spot inside a black case.

Cable quality is very good for the PSU's price. We couldn't ask for more from a budget unit.
