Arctic Cooling Announces Arctic F PWM Case Fans

The Swiss low noise cooling solution provider ARCTIC COOLING today announced the launch of the ARCTIC F PWM case fans. They are in 3 sizes - 80mm, 92mm and 120mm. With the patented PWM Sharing Technology, these new fans are surely the best choice for silent enthusiasts.

Featuring PWM function, the ARCTIC F PWM fans run at the most necessary speed to deliver maximum cooling capacity at the lowest noise level possible. On top of that, thanks to the patented innovative PWM Sharing Technology (PST), up to 5 fans (including CPU fans) can be connected to the ARCTIC F PWM fan to share the PWM signal. The speed of all the fans in this PST system is now centrally controlled by a single PWM signal via BIOS.
As a result, when the system load increases, fan speed of all fans connected in the PST system will be increased in order to lower the case temperature. Likewise, when the load is low, these fans will operate at a relatively low speed for sufficient cooling.

In conclusion, the advantages of having PST are:
  • Control the speed of different fans with only one PWM signal from the mainboard;
  • Case ventilation can be achieved in a quiet and efficient way. More fans run slower at low load, which deliver sufficient cooling at a much quieter operation than before.
  • Better energy saving as fans are not always at full speed.
The ARCTIC F PWM fans come with a 6 year limited warranty. They are available in September. The MSRPs are US$5.90 / 3.90€ (F8), US$6.90 / 4.90€ (F9), US$8.50 / 5.90€ (F12) (excl. VAT).

Huh. Seems pretty good. May need to invest in the 92mm version.

would personally like to see 140mm versions and higher of these awesome fans being made lately.

I agree, when are manufacturers going to star marking 140mm and 200mm fans with these sweet designs.

I know right. I mean really with all these new cases coming with 140mm and 200mm flavors, you'd think they would catch on. Of course I could get 4 of these for my side fans on my case, but I like the quietness of the 200mm or 240mm or 230mm or whatever size it is, and also the amount of air it moves.

No need for PWM on these big babies because they spin at a much slower RPM. The bigger the fan the more air that gets pushed around using less RPM.
If the Motherboard kicked in via PWM and boosted a 200mm case fan to 1500 RPM the air pressure would blow your case of the desk....lol:laugh:

Nevertheless, how many MB do we know with more than 1 PWM connector on the PCB?? Gigabyte is the only brand I know that includes 2 PWM connectors on their PCBs so...

Why no 18cm variants?

Might slap a 12cm on my DK when it arrives.

Yes the extra PWM socket is a good idea, I use a couple of Arctic Cooling AF12025 PWM's on my Thermalright TRUE Black 120 on top of an i7 920 CPU & they work very well (Real quiet too until I play Crysis).
I also run one Noctua NF-P12 1300rpm 120mm as a case fan plugged into the third Arctic Cooling PWM socket & although the Noctura is not PWM enabled it is still quieter than a mouse at 1300 rpm.

The case also has a huge 23cm silent fan-(230 x 230 x 20 mm) on top which isn't speed regulated at all but it spins quite slowly & really draws the heat out of the box, ( it is the quietest fan in the case).

In the old days, this Case would have probably been loaded with 80mm fans to keep it cool and I imagine that to get the same cooling effect as I have now that it would have been screaming.
