Acer Readies Super-Slim, LED-Lit, Full HD Monitor

Acer is planning to release its new S222HQL display at the IFA Berlin 2010 event this September. This 21.5" display sports a super-slim design that's aided by its LED-backlit illumination. At its thickest point, the display is just 12.9 mm thick. The display is Full HD ready, with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, it has a dynamic contrast ratio thanks to its LED backlit at 12,000,000:1, with 2 ms response time. The maximum brightness is 250 cd/m². Inputs include DVI and HDMI. There is no word on its pricing or availability.

Crikey, that is thinner than my phone.

It'd be nicer, though, if they'd concentrate on making the bezels thinner rather than the whole panel. I look at my monitor from the front, not the side.

mmm, i'm with ya there. shouldnt they be able to mostly support it from the bottom and behind, rather than top and sides?

And this has an external power unit? I hate those. So much easier to just plug an euro cable to the back of a monitor.

Not to mention wide edges ruin the multi-monitor experience... like Eyefinity...

Nice, I am liking the LEDS. I see everyone using the DCR for contrast, but this should be along the lines of like 15000:1 at best. Hmm, wonder if LED using TN or IPS panels.

I wish they would release an LED monitor with styling like their X series, I prefer the squared look.

A nice looking monitor in spec/style but why so much effort on making everything razor thin apart from the bezle, with both nvidia and ati supporting multi monitor i would have thought there may have been a little more effort in this area
