AMD Ships First ''Bulldozer'' Processors, Available in Q4
Today, AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced revenue shipments of the first processors based on its new x86 "Bulldozer" architecture. Initial production of the world's first 16-core x86 processor, codenamed "Interlagos," began in August and shipping to customers is already underway. Compatible with existing AMD Opteron 6100 Series platforms and infrastructure, "Interlagos" is expected to launch and be available in partner systems in the fourth quarter of this year. Many of the initial shipments have been earmarked for large custom supercomputer installations that are now underway.
"This is a monumental moment for the industry as this first 'Bulldozer' core represents the beginning of unprecedented performance scaling for x86 CPUs," said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, AMD Products Group. "The flexible new 'Bulldozer' architecture will give Web and datacenter customers the scalability they need to handle emerging cloud and virtualization workloads."For more information, visit the pages of Opteron 6000 series and Opteron 4000 series.

Congrats JF-AMD!
Yes... you can not overclock them (altough I was able through ntune).
Not sure about SR5690 capability.
But there are plenty of graphical rendering stations, that could be pulled through a benchmark an see how the architecture behaves at least on stock clock.
Mothers like these -

Server guys have done their job - now you desktop guys need to get it together and release those desktop models out NOW!!
It's hard to wait - we NEED it for BF3!!
Superpi should be banned from internet. A mid 90s app that poorly does its job. PCMark is infamous for lying, and pretty much extend that to most benches ran. What a joke.
However, you can't bench these server CPUs on real apps....you wouldn't want it to show them defeating xeons for a lot less cost.
In all seriousness, server platform Optys are a far cry from the Optys that share the commercial socket. I don't really think this is going to be a good estimate of the basic consumer version of the processor most of us will be buying.
FX or Opteron, doesn't matter too much to me as not being able to overclock isn't a deal breaker, I'll just make up by getting 2 or 4 Opterons. But it looks like it'll be some time til either series is available. :(
