Doom 4 First Screenshots Leaked?

Despite the less than mind-blowing title Rage, gamers who have been around long enough have come to know not to take id Software and its upcoming games lightly, especially if they're from one of its star franchises such as Doom and Quake. AllGamesBeta posted what it claims to be leaked screenshots of Doom 4, which it also goes on to claim as being "doomed" (cancelled), citing rumors. Close to two dozen of these screenshots can be found at the source. They reveal what [could have been] the setting of Doom 4, probably of the horrors unleashed on Mars (in Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil) finding their way to Earth.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Tech 5 was pretty much wasted on Rage...gotta make something to show it off properly :D.

Nice screenshots. But never mind the visual environment. If gameplay is just "corridor, corner, shadowed area, scripted monster jumps out, shoot, rinse and repeat" then I do not want.

Since Doom3 was a remake of sorts of Doom, perhaps this will be a refresh of Doom 2 Hell on Earth?

Screenshots seem to be from a human inhabited planet.

Do want regardless. Love all of the Doom games. Yes, ALL of them!

Rage felt like a beta-version or a demo with unrelated, half-assed fillings in-between (racing, eg.). And at some point it seemed the devs got bored with it, patched it up 'n rushed it out.

Hoping they'd actually finish this.

Open world / MMO Doom 4 ? No thanks. We have Rage/Stalker/Fallout for that. But I do agree Doom 3 was a bit too much corridors, and it felt WAAY too slow!

Hope it's fast paced as Doom 2 and a nice blend of dark narrow corridors and big rooms/spaces with alternate routes/tactics for gameplay. And graphics wise I know Carmack won't dissapoint. ;)

I've always loved the doom series. Doom3 was excellent, in my opinion anyways.

I wouldn't be surprised if these turn out to be Rage DLC concept images. However, they do seem to be more detailed but still, we'll see.

So many mixxed thoughts going on in my head right now .. tryn too decide what to type... so here comes the chaos.

The name "doom" ... brings me back to 1993. I was 13, it was Thanksgiving. We were at my cousins house. He showed me the share ware verson of DOOM. I could not bleave what was was seeing. I had been fooled in to bleaving the SNES was the end all of gaming. When we left his house that day, I had A new goal in life... "dad, we need A computer". "dad, if we have A computer and I am playing my game I can just SAVE it right their, stop and go do what you want me too) .. SNES did not save right where you were at!!. Took about A year before we got A computer, was A intel 486dx !! We knew Nothing about comps .. but this is where it all started for me @ 14... all because of DOOM.

On the other hand..

This is made my ID software & their last game was RAGE ... enough said.
I think I will wait for everyone else too buy this first.

I'm presuming English isn't your first language neko - I wanted to amend the errors so much. *Shakes.*

I have similar memories; I had Doom II on floppies and had to play it without sound but it didn't stop me from falling in love with PCs and FPSs.

So Doom 4 takes place on Earth again? Doom II: Hell on Earth Episode II anyone?

BTW, those shots look like crap, almost like they were taken on an add on expansion to Rage with a little higher texture resolution, I really hope these are fake :(

EDIT: Just noticed Spaceman Spiff beat me to the Doom II comparison :p, cheers! :toast:

If they do not stick to the original DOOM formula, then it's not going to do well. I don't want a game that looks like Rage or Metro 2033, I already have them. Cleared Metro, and cannot get into Rage.
Doom 3 was OK, but not the best. Doom 4 has to be the best unless they plan on messing up the games original reputation.
Those pics don't look all that great. :shadedshu

I swear these are only conceptual pics and not actual screenies. Maybe screenies from the the dev kit but I don't honestly don't think these are finished items.

That was just before the release and I have been hooked every since.

Doom 4 I, at this moment, have mixed thoughts from the looks of it. We shall see.

LOL same here, My uncle got me into them back the year doom came out. That year I begged my dad for a PC and he came home with a POS refurbished 486 2MB ram no CD drive but that did not stop me! I purchased the full version on floppy and went from there. I ended up getting 16MB of ram and a CD drive 5 months later. This PC was so bad that even doom lagged but was playable. I finally got a good PC when my dad dropped 1500$ on a 200Mhz IBM with 32MB ram and a some type of TNT 8MB card.

Agreed. Built my original rig (AMD Duron 1ghz with geforce mx4200 & 1gb ram ) to play doom 3 and call of duty 2. They worked but not very well. A few months later I upgraded to a skt 754 2.0ghz sempron and an ati 9600xt and that was a nice little rig for a while.
