Lenovo's AMD-Powered IdeaPad S206 Laptop Gets a Video Tour

Announced back in January, at CES 2012, the IdeaPad S206 11.6-inch laptop is moving closer to its release date so its maker, Lenovo, has made a nice little video for it to entice potential buyers. The S206 features a 20.7 mm thick metallic casing, an AccuType keyboard, an AMD dual-core APU, a 0.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, the Quick Start 'instant on' function, and a battery allowing for up to 4 hours of operation.

Lenovo's laptop is set to become available in June in five color versions - Cotton-candy Pink, Crimson Red, Electric Blue, Graphite Grey and Pearl White. Joining it will be the Atom-powered IdeaPad S200.

After doing a little research into what sort of CPUs it would be kitted up with.... Endgadget states that lenovo is offering the choice of either an Intel or AMD CPU.

HOWEVER on Lenovo's own website they claim that it comes with "Up to AMD Dual Core C-60 processor" but that cant be right.... 4hrs battery life from a C-60 APU?? really??? they must be using single cell'd batteries or something. Id expect at least 6-7hrs with a CPU like that.

More importantly perhaps, Glossy finish in the inside is NOT a feature....it's a con.

4hrs? really? hell my old thinkpad can get close to that if im really cafeful. and its not exactly very efficient. though thats min brightness and cpu/gpu clocks, cd drive empty, fan set low. but still my laptop is from 2005ish!

tbh Ive heard of some samsung 11.6" a laptop/netbook that have around the same battery life but they were running E-450 APU & using a 4-cell battery instead. hence the reason for the S206 ringing alarmbells in my head

::EDIT::

I think it was the Samsung 305U1A-A01DE but the retailer i was looking at only supplied it with a 3 or 4 cell battery i think, cant exactly remember as the shop doesnt sell it anymore

VulpesveritasI'm surprised there aren't more AMD APU powered netbooks out there already.
Agreed! I feel like APUs would do great in netbooks. Not too sure about battery life though (from previous posts).
