EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti Cooler Pictured

Launch of NVIDIA's next cash-cow graphics processor, the GeForce GTX 660 Ti, is not too far away, and we're getting pictures of some of the first AIC partner-branded graphics cards based on it. The pictures reveal an EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti Signature Edition graphics card cooling solution, complete with the GTX 660 Ti labeling.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti will look not much different from GeForce GTX 670 and GTX 680 Signature Edition graphics cards by the company, as we've been told on several occasions that the GTX 660 Ti is based on the same GeForce Kepler 104 GPU as the two. It's also likely that AIC partners could recycle the PCB design of their GTX 670 graphics cards, as they're generally extremely cost-effective.
EVGA employed a lateral-flow cooler design with its GTX 660 Ti Signature Edition. The cooler uses a blower to guide air through a dense stack of aluminum channels, where heat is dissipated. These channels draw heat from the GPU and surrounding memory chips, using what appears to be a vapor-chamber plate. The Expreview report also reiterated the specifications of GTX 660 Ti, which have been doing rounds in the media since last week: 1,344 CUDA cores, 112 TMUs, 24 ROPs, 192-bit GDDR5 memory interface, and 2 GB memory.

I wonder if this will come close to beating my 7950 in most games, I got my 7950 with custom cooler from Msi for only 309.99 after rebate...

If the specs are true, with a decent OC it could even beat the 680.
Looks like a proper monster card from nVidia and hopefully it'll bring prices down, as the 7850/7870 are ridiculously overpriced for the "mainstream" segment.

I think beating HD 7950 in C/P is the objective behind the GTX 660 Ti.

One does not simply ignore the OC abilities of the best overclocker in this generation of GPUs

looks like the heatsink is better than the old brother

donno what's better about it, its just a small vapor chamber with some fins.
NVIDIA is making a clear statement with this - "partners, you have left a lot of headroom for improvement, good luck"

just look the 670 heatsink, it's terrible and looks like they made from recycled materials or something like that.

I guess I don't really understand how video cards work then, if it can beat the 680 that makes no sense to me. I thought being 192 bit made it slower as well, heh. Oh, well I will stick with my 7950 now that I have it. 12.7 beta drivers show a 7970 Ghz edition wiping the floor of the 680, and then I hear of both sides bashing each other back and forth. So I will just keep my 7950, can't handle the fanboyism anymore.

I think it will be better then GTX 570 and = to HD 7950 but because of the PhysX and CUDA supprt i will go for the GTX 660TI

EDIT: just teke the 500 and 6000 series example GTX 560Ti is better then HD 6870 and = to HD 6950 and also better then GTX 470:D

I just call it math...because GPUs are basically just logic units arranged differently.

Those Twin Frozr cards are a good deal.

Simply look at 1344sp (+ 7x32 SFU) as 1568 Radeon cores, it's just easier that way.

1792/1568 * 800 (7950 stock speed) = 914.xx mhz...aka 660ti/670 base clock.

980mhz (turbo clock) =1280sp @ 1225mhz or 1536 @ 1000.xx mhz

The first shows the point is for shader performance on these parts to equal a stock 7950 at worst case. The later is both the base 7870 will overclock and what nvidia likely expects 8850 to be. On paper it will equal a 7950 or '8850'. These clocks are all calculated...TO BEAT/Match AMD IN REVIEWS at certain metrics...just like the extra 2mhz on the ram looks better on a spec list or box.

The reality is 7950 has a similarly optimal shader/rop ratio to 660ti, it also has the bandwidth to back up it's ipc/clock potential. 660ti will bottleneck itself because of bandwidth likely around it's tdp limits (it could conceivably do up to ~1100/7000 like 670). 7950 ofc has bw to spare and volts/clocks very well. It is a sound purchase. The purpose of 660ti is to LOOK good against a stock 7950, but it's market is to beat the 7870 and compete with 8850.

To each their own, but in the end logic will prevail for those that care.

It will be a good card when it is priced between 7870 (post next price drop) and 7950.

not sure what to make of this(apparently from pceva).. 2 versions - 192 & 256 bit

Ti & non-Ti is the obvious guess.. as for the credibility of these images, i would rather wait patiently till the launch (unless of course, W1zz has something to say!)

I've seen these floating around the web last night and to be honest these specs make more sense than the 1344SP part with 192bit bus. Lower SP count, higher clocks and keeping the 256bit would not jeopardize the 670 but would compete decently with the 7950 and 7870 at a good price point (300$) while the 660 with 192 bit will compete with the 7850 at 250$. I really don't think there's a GK106 so if the 650 will be based on GK107 it's bad even if they give it DDR5.

But the cards are definitely coming and some already know more about the dimensions:

is it about the 660Ti or something else
NDA contract. Mouths are shut.

IMHO GK106 was/is too slow or has manufacturing problems for midrange/performance cards and simply got replaced by low bin GK104s.
Looks like GK106 shares the same fate of GK100 and will rise as GK116...

GTX 570 is slower then the 7870. It has to be atleast %20 faster to compete with the 7950.

It's been mentioned here and elsewhere that the 660Ti is competing with 7950. I thought the 670 was to compete with the 7950 originally but ended up competing with the 7970? I'm confused a bit.

This might just make me give nVidia a try again.
Looks like I'd better wait though to see what kind of complaint people are getting after release.

But then again I would like to get my hands on a reference version rather than a supposed improved revised PCB which is most likely a more cost effective PCB.

All you have to do is check the prices. They will tell you which is competing with which. It's different than last generation because Nvidia has only one chip that seems to cover everything mid and high end.
