GTA V to Miss March 2013 Launch Window?

According to a gaming industry analyst, Rockstar's upcoming AAA title Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), could miss the March-2013 launch window. Colin Sebastian, an analyst with research firm Robert W. Baird, in a note sent to investors, expressed these concerns. "By no means am I convinced that it will miss March, but there are a couple of factors to consider. One, we haven't heard anything definitive from the company on release timing," he said. "Second, retailers typically would want 4-6 months lead time to prepare for a launch as large as GTA, and from [what] I understand they haven't heard anything. Third, Rockstar rightly prioritizes game quality over release date, and this dynamic could shift timing."

It's because of the new Xbox console that he is refering to a later date! Also cause GTA games always come out in October! On current hardware I don't believe it would be feesible to come out with that large of a game on the Xbox, it would use too many discs. So why not push it back another year to come out with it on a new console? Although I don't know what's going to happen with Sony...Although with Blu-Ray it wouldn't be a problem.. :D

There is no way on gods green earth that this isn't coming out on current-gen consoles. GTAV is like COD: every console asshole is going to pick it up, its free money.

I don't believe that the size of the game is an issue. I think the HD-DVD that the xbox uses is 15GB single (30GB dual) is not going to be a problem capturing the whole game.

Wasn't the HD-DVD just an add-on for the 360? The XBOX 360 it self just uses a Dual layer DVD. :toast: If it uses a HD-DVD then Rage should have only been one disk like the PS3.

It doesn't matter, as we'll have Carmageddon by then, which should keep us occupied for quite a while.

I dont care if this gonna be console port or bundled without some semi-useless tessellation features. As long the game will look and feel awesome, just like gta iv did when it came out, i will be glad to play it.

That is a possibility, but you better believe that GTA V will be released on current consoles first. MS won't announce their new console until 2013, and even then it will be at least 6 - 8 months before the release date. GTA is too big of a cash-cow for Rockstar to forgo releasing it on current gen consoles.

Also, people have put up with multiple-disc games already so I don't see that being an issue.

Bite your Tongue! :shadedshu

I hope they don't pull the same BS with this one. The "extra time" will hopefully mean not a half-assed port for PC this time.(This is what I try to tell myself anyway )

Surely Rockstar can see my the great sales of games like Skyrim, Mass Effect, and even just NOW Borderlands 2 whichoutsold Mass Effect. Now granted that is console numbers and Steam of course is not giving out Stats but it is top of the Steam Stats.
That there IS a strong PC market and they would be foolish not to be on the ball with it as well.

Lol gta4 sucked imo..
Bunch of crybaby gangsters, who get all mad at you if you don't call them to hang out, during a mass murdering spree.. I felt like I was playing hello kitty I'm a gta4, babysitting everyone..
Also, no apartments or garages.
I think there were no planes and like one ridiculously horrible chopper..
4 was full of fail. Only thing good about 4 was the physics and graphics..
Which is why everything else sucked..

LMAO... enjoy those 2-3 weeks spent on forums trying to get the game to work or at more than 20fps before you give up, forget about it, months pass, some patches are released, maybe you upgrade your PC and so on... and voila! a 25fps of pure overrated pile of shit goodness playthrough!

IMHO, with games like SRIII or Sleeping Dogs already out and with how boring and uninspired GTA V's setting seems to be and Rockstar's horrible port track record... I really couldn't give a crap less on when it's being released or not...
