I've ALWAYS loved gigabyte boards for their reliability - and have used them on almost all of my customers with incredibly low failure rate (less than 3 ever under stock conditions) and fantastic return policy, but any company that will blatantly and fraudulently falsify their "likes" by offering prizes for them is telling the world that they are in the active practice of fudging their numbers, willfully and intentionally.

Still, I also remember a fast rising band called "Milli Vanilli" where shooting for the stars when their entire career was shot down in a "lip-synching" scandal - and now days if you don't lip-synch at a concert you get booed off stage because your performance doesn't sound like the one in their iProduct.

Perhaps the days people just don't care anymore, and as long as someone else is prepared to fudge up the numbers they will just go along with it. That's how TV shows are created and destroyed anyway.

Is it good for product placement?

a.) YES, it may be vapid and utterly pointless, but its about rich, spend ready tweens in a hip city full of brands - RENEWED

b.) NO, its in space, you need to think about the story, there's no pepsi, iProducts, or new cars forever "PULLING UP" and jamming their logo into the middle of the screen - CANCELLED

In the United States, contest drawings must have alternative means of entry besides the main one. This is usually done as a mail-in option and it's why you see contests with fine print that say 'to enter mail your name and address on a post card to <company address>' It may be state laws that govern this but I rarely see a contest that doesn't have the alternative means of entry.

Do these contests not require it because they aren't based on the US?

I seem to remember a TPU giveaway that recently utilized facebook. Perhaps we shouldn't crap where we sleep....



Additionally, who gives a crap. You don't fill out the slips in a mall for "a chance to win free replacement windows." Why is a facebook contest any different? If you don't care, don't enter. Raging against facebook, for what is ostensibly a human failing, is foolish. The second that people realize that they don't actually have 1000 friends is the second they grow up.


I have no love for facebook (see: facebook doesn't even get a capital letter). Most contests are a sham. What I can't get is why there is so much hate for one facebook contest.
