AMD Posts Catalyst 13.8 Beta, Fixes CrossFire Frame Latency
In the run up to the big Catalyst driver update AMD promised, that fixes frame latency issues on Graphics CoreNext-based GPUs, AMD posted Catalyst 13.8 beta, which addresses frame-pacing issues on CrossFire configuration, which minimizes the micro-stuttering issues some CrossFire configurations are notorious for. The driver includes a fix that ensures frames generated by member GPUs of a CrossFire configuration are displayed in an even and regular pace, so there's no micro-stuttering. This fix can be enabled through Catalyst Control Center, on a per-application basis. It supports games that use DirectX 11 and DirectX 10 APIs, running at resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels.
Next up, Catalyst 13.8 beta includes full support for the OpenGL 4.3 API. You can now create application profiles within Catalyst Control Center for OpenGL applications, and CAP updates will now be issued for such apps. The only performance-improvement you get with this driver, are for Metro: Last Light. Radeon HD 7000 series GPUs get up to 7 percent performance improvement on the game. Lastly, a nifty new feature addition for Enduro shows which apps are active on the discrete-GPU, and which on the integrated/low-power GPU.

Should we be installing the latest AMD/ATI Catalyst Application Profiles (CAP)
Anything overclocked, or under volted?
TR is a sweet frickin game bro! you wont regret it, and lock the v-sync on. And be stunned on the quality!
And eyes forward man haha
I'm downloading it now :). I hope it runs well for me, at least as well as FC3 has been with this new driver. I know this beta driver isn't perfect, but FC3 is sooo much better than it used to be, so let's hope TR sees the same smoothness. I'll report back tomorrow.
And I know you posted something FF, yet it seems to have vanished ;)There it is
Id do a clean install and load the new driver up.. windows 8.1 you might be asking for more trouble.
You kinda answered your own comment, Id go for W7 and give it a go.
Amd hit the nail on the head with this driver. But granted it's a new code they wrote and it's just going to get better from here on.
EDIT: Still locks up on clean Win7, so one of my cards or the LEPA G900 PSU is flaking out. This really effing sucks, as all I wanted was CFX and now I have parts I've had running for quite a while misbehaving badly. More troubleshooting later...
That's another thing about this driver: it not only helped FC3 run smoothly, but I haven't had a single crash since installing. With the old driver, I would literally crash once a day, sometimes more. (again, this issue was with FC3 only; everything else ran nicely)
However...
Anyone else with crossfire noticing their second card not clocking down while idle? This is strange because right now, card 1 is 300/150 0% load where it should be, but card 2 is at 925/1375 99% load, and this is at idle....... Off to reboot and see what happens, maybe even a driver reinstall.
Went back to 13.4, and it didn't do it. Now back on 13.8 and it's doing it again, second card reporting full load in GPUz and CCC. Not sure what's going on.
