Seagate Unveils Its New Network Storage Portfolio
Seagate Technology plc today announced a new portfolio of Networked Attached Storage (NAS) solutions specifically designed for today's small businesses. The new portfolio includes five NAS products in a range of capacities from 2 TB to 30 TB and performance perfectly suited for the home office to small businesses with up to 50 employees. The Seagate NAS and NAS Pro lines set the standard for ease-of-use by introducing a new intuitive operating system, NAS OS 4, together with hardware specifically designed for small businesses without dedicated IT resources.
"Storage is a must have for businesses of today regardless of their size or industry. So much of what businesses do is now stored in a digital format, but at the same time storage is an area that may not be top of mind for many small business professionals. The irony is that smart storage is so essential to their growth," said Ramon Ray of SmallBizTechnology. "It is good to see a company like Seagate taking the guess work out of network storage solutions and making it easy to set up and manage for a small business without dedicated IT staff."Industry's Most Intuitive User Interface
Today's businesses depend on their documents and data accessibility to sustain and grow their business. Seagate provides the tools that a growing business needs to ensure their data is secure and always available. Building on the success of its award-winning operating system, Seagate debuts the next generation with NAS OS 4. Now with a redesigned Device Manager, users can manage preferences and configure settings from a single location. It also includes the most demanded features by our customers including App Manager and Seagate Sdrive for remote access. Designed to be easily up and running without dedicated IT support, Seagate NAS OS 4 helps small businesses stay organized and focused. The NAS device management is effortless from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or even a smartphone. Seagate NAS OS 4 is designed to keep projects accessible, secure and always available.
Working Together Works Better - Hardware, Software and Support by Seagate
All products in Seagate's NAS portfolio are wholly developed and supported by Seagate, which ensures a level of expertise that is not delivered when customers are required to source individual components. Each NAS is populated with Seagate's best-in-class NAS HDD drives in capacities up to 5 TB. The industry-leading NAS HDDs are designed specifically for network storage applications, and are equipped with advanced vibration tolerance and management capabilities, offering enhanced reliability compared to standard desktop hard drives. In addition, Seagate tests every product extensively before being shipped, and backs them with an expert in-house tech support team.
Easy Remote Access Via Private Cloud
Seagate NAS and NAS Pro provide secure access to files by creating a private cloud, also enabling access to files from a centralized location, while providing shared access for clients and partners through Seagate Sdrive software - a private cloud that physically resides on Seagate NAS. With Sdrive, access to your private cloud is as seamless and intuitive as saving files to an external drive. Files on Sdrive are also accessible from a smartphone or tablet with free mobile apps.
"We understand that today's small businesses can benefit from a storage solution that is easy to manage and provides 24/7 secure access to the information that drives their businesses," said Scott Horn, vice president of global marketing at Seagate. "From the individual contractor to the fifty-employee office, Seagate has the right product to match the needs of any size of small- to medium-sized business."
App Manager
Another key feature of Seagate NAS OS 4 is support for add-on apps from both Seagate and third parties. The Seagate NAS and NAS Pro will come equipped with five essential apps at launch and more will be added in the future.
Both Seagate NAS and NAS Pro are available world-wide. Seagate NAS business storage is available in 2- and 4-bay configurations. With a Marvel ARM 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, Seagate NAS is designed to address the storage needs of small office and home offices with up to 25 employees. 1 Comment on Seagate Unveils Its New Network Storage Portfolio
Considering how terrible their Blackarmor range was and their subsequent next generation, I wouldn't touch anything with the words Seagate and NAS ever; for the rest of my life.
