EK Releases GIGABYTE GTX 980 Ti XTREME GAMING Full-Cover Water Block

EK Water Blocks, Ljubljana based premium computer liquid cooling gear manufacturer, is releasing a new Full-Cover water block, designed and engineered specifically for GIGABYTE XTREME GAMING series NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti top-tier graphics cards - the EK-FC980 GTX Ti XG.

EK-FC980 GTX Ti XG is a high-performance Full-Cover water block, designed for GIGABYTE non-reference design GeForce GTX 980 Ti XTREME GAMING graphics cards. The cooler actively cools the GPU, RAM as well as VRM (voltage regulation module) as water flows directly over these critical areas, thus allowing the graphics card and it's VRM to remain stable under high overclocks. Water block aesthetically covers the entire PCB and with the corresponding retention backplate, users get visually stunning GPU in their system.
EK-FC980 GTX Ti XG water block features EK unique central inlet split-flow cooling engine design for best possible cooling performance, which also works flawlessly with reversed water flow without adversely affecting the cooling performance. Moreover, such design offers great hydraulic performance, allowing this product to be used in liquid cooling systems using weaker water pumps.

The base is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of quality POM Acetal or acrylic (depending on the variant). Screw-in brass standoffs are pre-installed and allow for safe installation procedure.

In order to simplify the search for suitable and compatible water block EK is adding newly released graphics cards and motherboard from various manufacturers to EK Cooling Configurator database and compatible graphics cards are being added to the list on a daily basis.

These water blocks are made in Slovenia, Europe and are readily available for purchase through EK Webshop and Partner Reseller Network. An aesthetic retention backplate, which also cools the memory IC on the backside of the circuit board, is also available for separate purchase.

Little late to the party isn't it? A new GPU generation is going to be released in as short as 8 weeks, who is going to buy this?

Owners of a flagship card which will last for YEARS that they want to watercool? If you were upgrading, you wouldn't do this. Its also only been out for a few months (late december 2015?)...

I would imagine VERY few people that have a 980Ti will make the jump out of the gate to a midrange next gen card that will likely be right around the same performance.... think about things for a second. ;)
