Alienware Launches the AW3418HW Monitor on CES 2018: 34", WFHD, 3800R, G-Sync

Alienware today unveiled their latest gaming monitor, the AW3418HW. After you've parsed that seemingly unreadable name/product number, you should know that this monitor features a 38090R curved WFHD (2560x1080) display, with full NVIDIA G-SYNC support. Adding to its gaming chops, G-SYNC enables extra fluidity on the monitor's 144 Hz (stock, overclockable up to at least 160 Hz). The monitor has a pretty aggressive, "gaming" design, which definitely won't agree with all potential customers. However, one thing where the Alienware AW3418HW really is looking towards being a jack of all trades is its connectivity department: 1x Line-out port; 1x USB port with Power Charging; 1x Headphone jack; 1x USB 3.0 port; 1x USB upstream port; 2x USB 3.0 ports; 1x HDMI port; and 1x DisplayPort. Now breathe with me after all those connectivity options. That's it.
Dell has also announced pricing and availability of the AW3418HW, which is set to cost $1,199.99. A tidy sum for a WFHD monitor (where this panel shines the less), but Alienware as marketing this as a premium option, so, I guess it's up to users (as always) to decide where to invest their hard earned cash.

I would like to see softer lines on the stand, the angular look is not pleasing to me.

160hz ok.... but 1080p is NOT... I was hoping to see 1440p and 144hz.. yes I know the requirements to run that many pixels and I want it anyways!

Because all of us can afford 4K / 144mhz monitors....it's a budget option for Ultrawide and I see nothing wrong with it.

You can buy 3440x1440 monitors for like 600 dollars. There's no excuse to keep making 34"+ ultrawide monitors at 1080 vertical resolution.

Budget? maybe you missed the price? $1200 is not a "budget level" monitor. the cost is only that high because of the 160hz I assume because otherwise that price is a complete joke.

If your planned cost for monitor is $600 I guess you can find 3440x1440, although I am not sure about my country. I need to check, and I am still at work now. I was pointing more like sub-$300 price point where IPS + 3440x1440 is something I didn't see when getting my new monitor last year.

There is a striking resemblance in design with my Predator X34...2560x1080 is pathetic for that hefty price tag

There is something wrong. That price is what you pay for a AW3418 "DW", which is the 1440p option.

For 80 dollars more(you can get it for 1150$ right now from the dell store if you're in the states) you can get the Dell AW3418DW which is 3440x1440
same specs minus the refresh rate 120hz
They got the numbers mixed?
