NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 and 2080 Mobile Could Make an Appearance at CES 2019

With NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 20-series having already released for desktops, it was only a matter of time until laptops got the RTX treatment as well. Current rumors are suggesting that Nvidia will officially launch their GeForce RTX 20-series mobility GPUs on January 6th at CES with the RTX 2070 and RTX 2070 Max-Q taking center stage. An embargo date of January 26th has also been set, with NVIDIA delaying their final release drivers until then. Meaning final performance results for the new mobile GPUs won't be available until after the embargo date, which should coincide with the general availability of RTX 20-series equipped laptops.

Along with the RTX 2070 and 2070 Max-Q mobility parts, the flagship RTX 2080 Max-Q which isn't expected at the show, is still in the works, with its TU104M 1eab device ID having been leaked earlier. The rest of the GeForce 20-series mobility GPUs are likely to use the GTX moniker if NVIDIA's desktop lineup is anything to go by; however, that is merely speculation at this point.
The device IDs for the new GeForce Mobility series were also posted to Github and are listed below.
  • Turing TU102: 1e02, 1e04, 1e07
  • Turing TU102GL: 1e30, 1e3c, 1e3d
  • Turing TU104: 1e82, 1e87
  • Turing TU104M: 1eab
  • Turing TU106: 1f07

I'm still hoping for a rtx 2080 mobile pretty soon, unless there are some great, considerably cheaper 2070 laptops coming soon! Maybe even some fairly thin and light ones with good battery life? Would actually be better than a 2080 laptop for me probably!

Hyped for new amd desktop parts too!

The RTX is just a gimmick at this point, the DIE is hilariously big for the performance and thus the price is rather hilarious and availability due to yields.
But! my god the effeciency of those TU chips which should make them absolute beasts for laptops! at a price :p

Surely the RT stuff will simply be too slow for anything more than 720p60fps, even a desktop 2070 is not fast enough for consistent RT at 1080p 60fps...

Well tbh on laptops and their 15 inch screens you can get away with 1366x768 resolution a lot of times, still really high DPI.

My concern is the power consumption and power limits. The die is bigger so I´m not sure that hese GPUs can be that fast on a laptop. Maybe when 7nm arrive.

More like 2000+ USD, lol
You have to keep in mind that they will give you, bundled with the laptop, a freezing unit, to keep the laptop cool.
