AMD R610 and R630 set for an April Launch

With AMD/ATI's flagship for the start of the DirectX10 era, the R600, expected during March, the two mainstream cards in the series are expected to launch sometime during April. It will probably be about a month after the R600 is released, with mass availability sometime in May. The R630 is the mid-range model, whilst the R610 will be the entry level card. These cards will be going head to head with NVIDIA's G86 and G84 to win the DirectX 10 low and mid end battles, hopefully bringing DX10 under $100 and making it available to more people.

I think when these come out, I wont go DX10 yet. Ill go DX10 when games I play and games I want to play are widely using it. By that time, Ill get an X1950 Pro (or Pro dual) or maybe an X1800XTX or X19XXXYX

I think I'll be waiting to buy DX10. Just because I really need more ram before I should even think about getting a new vid card. Buy the time I have the money for a new card, something new will probably be out anyway.

Looks like the AMD machine well at work ... by that meaning delay on parts but worth it once they get here. It will be interesting to see how well these new round of boards do against each other though. As for me, Ill take a look at the g86 and the r630 pieces both. If the r630 comes with GDDR4, that might be a selling point. No need for overclocking the memory when its already clocked into the stratosphere as it is.
